We are a group of Tennessee Tech University students enthusiastic about the practice of civil and environmental engineering. Being a part of the ASCE student chapter opens up a lot of opportunities for students! We generally meet three times a month, during which a professional member of ASCE joins us as a guest speaker to talk about their experiences. Many of these guest speakers are Tennessee Tech Alumni, and they give the students advice and guidance that is applicable to our everyday lives. Some guests will accept applications for potential co-ops, internships, and entry level engineering positions at their company.

“There are only four sports! Auto Racing, Bass Fishing, Champion BBQ Cooking and Collegiate Steel Bridge Building! All the rest are just games!” Mark Davis

In addition to networking, being a member of ASCE allows for students to meet many people that will eventually become great friendships! During meetings, conferences, and social events, the students are able to discuss their classes or just hang out and make new friends! Every year we host an Alumni BBQ where all the civil and environmental alumni are invited to attend (usually during homecoming week). This is another opportunity where students can talk with previous Tech students and see what they are doing in their lives. Many of these alumni own their own engineering firm and offer scholarships to students in ASCE.
